DOE-Licensed Software Tools -
Training, obtaining the software, responsibilities, etc.
CyberCop by Network Associates Inc. (NAI)
NAI has made an End-of-Life announcement for the CyberCop product line, effective
July 2002. This means that no new features or enhancements will be provided.
Although NAI will accept license renewals from existing customers through December
2003, DOE will not be renewing the existing enterprise contract. Sites that are
currently using CyberCop products are advised to plan to migrate to other
comparable products.
ISS Products
ISS provides three separate products:
ISS Internet Scanner,
ISS RealSecure Intrusion Detection,
and ISS System Scanner
Tumbleweed®
Tumbleweed's solutions address a wide range of content security and
communications issues. Tumbleweed products provide e-mail and Internet
security and archiving solutions that enable you to set global policies
to protect against inbound and outbound threats. Tumbleweed solutions
provide centralized administration and security features that work with
your existing e-mail systems, firewalls and proxy servers. It is a
server-based solution that is transparent to the end user, eliminating
the need for end-user training and mandatory desktop software.

DOE-Developed Software Tools
NID
(Network Intrusion Detector)
NID is the work of CIAC's Cyber Solution Tools Center (CSTC).
It provides a suite of security tools that detects and analyzes
network intrusions from unauthorized individuals and activities.
The NID software product is available free of charge to all U.S. Government
agencies.
SafePatch
SafePatch is the work of CIAC's Cyber Solution Tools Center (CSTC).
It provides automated analysis, distribution, and notification of security patches
on network-based computer systems.
AIS Alarms
The AIS Alarms-Unix System provides network and host-based computer security event monitoring,
assessment, and response. It is implemented as a collection of distributed software modules
that provide active monitoring, and to a limited degree, automatic response to suspicious
activities (so called "attacks") that typically indicate attempts to gain or use unauthorized access
to a computer or computer network.

Public Tools
Following is a collection of pointers to public domain, freely available software

on the Security Tools and Techniques CD-ROM assembled for the 1994

conference by David Curry of Purdue University is also included.
